#2. CRUISERWEIGHTS
Sin Cara is such a bust. He has no direction, no point, and likely no future.
It’s not entirely his fault. There’s a ton of small guys like him capable of doing cool (even cooler) things in the ring. It doesn’t amount to near as much as it once did. Fans are a lot harder to impress these days.
There’s a segment of the WWE that will always be stuck in this category, UNLESS they bring back the cruiserweight division. I’m aware it’s probably the LAST thing on Vince’s mind, but it’s still worth mentioning. Light-heavyweights, or cruiserweights, would be better off with a solidified purpose, a goal.
Some will argue there’s already too many titles. I don’t agree. WWE, technically, still has two shows to distribute those titles. The main issue is that WWE and Creative simply does a crappy job handling the majority of their titles, and Champions. I’d say get rid of the US Title in favor of this one, IF the overall number of physical titles was a real issue.
This could be a Smackdown-specific division.
Sin Cara, Hunico, Bourne, Heath Slater, Gabriel, Tyson Kidd, Tatsu — all of their stock goes up with this division. You just gave Amazing Red a tryout. Great, but what is his future in the WWE without this division? Besides being another guy bigger guys can throw around more easily?
A cruiserweight division requires very little creative effort. Of course, it’s better if given a little, but I won’t ask for too much here.
Everyone has a place, a role, in WWE. Some must be roleplayers. If you’re a really small guy physically, that’s typically your only place. It wouldn’t be that way if this division was brought back. I say…
1) Save the tag team division.
2) Bring back the cruiserweight division.
3) Do away with the US Title, if neccesary.
4) Make the IC Championship the MAIN midcard title.
Not necessarily in that order.
