WWE No Way Out

Wrestlezone’s Top 10: No Way Out Matches

Number 10: John Cena vs. Kurt Angle

John Cena

Seven years ago, John Cena was on the rise. He was not established in the main event scene, and was the next guy to get a shot at World Championship gold. All he had to do was beat Kurt Angle in his hometown, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They did all they could to get Angle as the ultimate heel, including a backstage segment ripping on his city. This match was actually the first time I saw Cena do more than five moves. Angle was able to get everything out of John Cena. A number one contender’s match made this PPV somewhat interesting. The main event was awful, which was Big Show vs. JBL in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match. Cena and Angle took the match and really mixed physicality and athleticism. A really underrated match in the career of John Cena, but one that I will remember because it was that last stepping stone to what he is now.
