SHEAMUS – ONE STEP DOWN
It’s even worse in hindsight.
When Jericho presumably began a new program with Randy Orton on Monday's edition of Raw, I hated it for two reasons. I only liked it for one.
I would have liked Jericho vs. Orton. I would have liked Orton vs. Sheamus even more. I also assumed Del Rio would be the alternative option as the challenger for Sheamus, and I’m not digging that right now.
ADR is a logical choice, but he’s still not connecting as a true threat to the championship. I have defended him and his talent until I was blue in the face, but there’s something missing and I have NO clue what is.
I’m still not loving Sheamus as a babyface either. He’s over – I’m not denying that – but WWE continues to feed him cheesy stories and promos way too often.
Sheamus’ best, recent work was against Randy Orton. My guess is that Vince decided it would be best to split them up, use Jericho and Del Rio to put them over, and bring them back for Summer Slam – a more important pay per view than the next two.
Jericho would have done well putting over Orton. I’m not sure Del Rio can do that much for Sheamus right now.
I’m curious, though, to see if plans change in lieu of the recent Jericho development.
