#1. BIG SHOW TURNS HEEL, RELUCTANTLY?
At the Over The Limit pay per view last night, Big Show surprised us all by helping Big Johnny win his match against John Cena. Go figure, right?
The live crowd didn’t respond to an acceptable degree, but that’s to be expected, considering EVERYONE expected Big Show to turn on Cena as soon as he appeared. It’s hard to act surprised when you’re not surprised.
I’m fine with Big Show helping Johnny. It’s logical.
What I’m afraid I won’t like about this story is Big Show’s actual heel turn. Because I’m afraid it won't be a genuine heel turn.
Big Show is going to be presented as a reluctant sidekick to Johnny. The reason he helped him defeat Cena last night was only to get his job back. He was forced to do it and had no other choice.
That’s crap. Had Laurinaitis lost to Cena, he would have been fired. Wouldn’t Big Show allow that to happen and then proposition the NEXT guy in charge about reemployment?
Rather, we’ll get a babyface explanation by Big Show and we won’t get a genuine heel character as a result. Cena vs Big Show, in general, is less than appealing. But it would at least be somewhat bearable if Show was a true bad guy.
If WWE wants to keep Big Show babyface, for whatever reason, then I’d argue they should have went with someone else for this angle.
The reluctant good guy being forced by the bad guy gets old. It’s limiting. I don’t see the payoff. And if it’s more begging and crying from Big Show, I’ll pass.
