Open Fight Night Battle Royal: AJ Styles Wins
What I Liked:
The fans were treated to a very solid battle royal here. The final three were Styles, Gunner, and Aries. Throughout the match, all three of the guys really had a lot of offensive attacks on the other opponents. You had a great face off between Styles and Aries before Gunner gets involved and tosses out Aries. AJ Styles needed to win here, as I felt like he is the guy that can really be cheered for no matter who the other opponents are. Especially with his Dixie Carter angle, this can tangle in with that story. Aries is great, but I am glad he is not yet going to fight for the title. He needs to take a Roode-like approach in his career, which is slow and steady. He will get to the top, just not right now. He can benefit from matches against veterans like Angle and Anderson and then work to the top.
What I Disliked:
Why does Crimson get eliminated so quickly? He is seen as a wrecking machine, especially after taking out Matt Morgan. I do not see the sense in having him gone early. It lacks logic and the entire story they are trying to put together for him. Also, they wasted two spots with EY and ODB. They really did not need to be in there with everyone else. Lastly, I do not see anything in Garrett Bischoff, do you?
Grade: B
-After the match, Daniels and Kazarian interrupt AJ talking about Bobby Roode. They reveal a video on their IPad that shows AJ and Dixie in a hotel together. This infuriated Styles so leaves in shame.
-Samoa Joe is backstage with Kurt Angle talking about their history. It ends in a brawl with Joe shoving Angle into a trailer and punching him until security comes out.
