Number 6: Paul Heyman: October 2003- March 2004
This was the biggest mistake the WWE made. Heyman should have been the GM of either Raw or Smackdown for a much longer period. Since his return, all of the diehard fans have fallen back in love with the character that Heyman portrays in front of our eyes. He is so good at everything he does because he is real. Paul Heyman has never been a guy who was questioned about his love for everything that he does. He should have been higher on this list, but less than a year as a power figure is the reason why he is not. The second GM of Smackdown, Heyman had to follow Vince’s daughter. He did a great job in getting some of the younger guys exposure, including Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas. They solidified a tag team division who needed stars. He brought us Brock Lesnar, as well as a fresh and youthful Kurt Angle. He backed the heels and stacked the odds against guys like John Cena and The Undertaker, Smackdown’s two top guys in terms of popularity. He did all the right things, and also quit after he was drafted to work with Eric Bischoff on Raw. Great time period and creative dominance for Heyman and Smackdown.
