#2. No Way Out — All Cage Matches
I couldn't care less about the fact that TNA has Lockdown. Vince couldn't care less either. His decisions have nothing to do with that company, nor should they. If he wants to do it, he'll do it. And more than likely, he'll do it better than them.
Speaking of TNA, I actually do enjoy their Lockdown ppv each year. In theory, you would think the same would apply to WWE. But it doesn't, for me.
TNA wasn't already theme-crazy when they introduced the Lockdown event. WWE is. There's a "Hell in a Cell" AND Elimination Chamber pay per view already. Not to mention, those gimmicks aren't even exclusive to those specific events. HIAC can take place anytime, as is the case with the upcoming Taker/Triple H match.
I understand that Vince is trying to package each event with something special to appeal to buyers. And overall, I think it's worked. But at some point, special attractions become "not so special" when they are surrounded by so many other special attractions.
I'll buy any pay per view, with any theme, if the star power is there and the stories are built well leading up to it. I think most fans feel the same way. Vince can continue dressing up the events all he wants, but that fact will never change.
