WZ Presents Superstar Spotlight – Drew McIntyre

McIntyre debuted alongside Dave Taylor wearing a kilt to play up his Scottish roots, and stuck around for a few weeks before disappearing. I think he fits as a midcard heel, but I don’t see him going any higher than that because I still see him as the scrawny Scot with a kilt. There’s nothing wrong with having that spot, but I think they could have helped him by giving him higher profile feuds instead of being in programs with R-Truth and Matt Hardy. I always compare McIntyre with Wade Barrett, mostly because they are both foreign heels, but Wade does everything right that I would have wanted from McIntyre. Nexus and NXT helped Wade get over, but then they moved him to face guys like John Cena and Randy Orton. McIntyre could have benefitted from a platform like that, but he got passed over and is floundering on Superstars or on house show cards.

The last time he was seen on TV was when he lost to Sheamus at Tribute To The Troops, and (SPOILER ALERT) he is involved in a backstage segment and in a match on this week’s Smackdown. This may be a sign of things to come and he would definitely benefit from being seen more on Friday nights, but what do you think? McIntyre could be a great next opponent for Zack Ryder, and he could go from there like Dolph Ziggler did, if WWE lets him go that extra step. Are you a fan of the “Chosen One” or is he just another guy on the roster taking up space? Sound off in the comments section.
