Top Ten: Best of WWE 2011

Number 2: CM Punk's Rise to Stardom

What a difference a year makes. CM Punk went from an upper mid card talent to the "It" guy for the WWE. With a solid performance at WrestleMania versus Randy Orton, Punk was close to becoming irrelavant. With a real life contract dispute, it looked like CM Punk was on his way out. Instead, they capitalized on an opportunity and it payed off. CM Punk dropped a pipe bomb, breaking the walls inside the WWE brass. We heard truth, realism, and a sense or urgency. CM Punk would carry the movement of making the WWE "cool" again. He did just that. Chicago, Illinois at Money in the Bank was one of the best crowds I have ever heard. Punk won the title, left WWE, only to come back with a new look, a new song, and a new way of life. He became so popular, he leaped Cena in merchandise sales, popularity, and even his legitamacy as the Best in the World. He will be a main stay in the main event level from now on, and his success comes greatly from himself. That is something rare we see these days. No politics, straight edge, and heart is why we love CM Punk.  It is also why Punk will continue to rise and stay at the top. 2011 was the year of Punk.
