WrestleZone’s Top Ten: Ladder Matches

Number 5: John Cena vs. Edge: WWE Unforgiven 2006

John Cena

The year of 2006 was the year of Edge and John Cena. One of my favorite feuds in recent memory, Edge and Cena would battle for the whole year, beginning with Edge cashing in at New Year's Revolution on Cena. With other opponents in the way, they would make a great match in Toronto towards the latter part of the year. Edge had the hometown crowd, but it was Cena overcoming the odds. He hit a memorable FU on Edge through a table as he was on the ladder. It showed strength, and the desire to make himself better. Edge hit the spear through a table, and carried the athleticism in the match. They battled back and forth for 25 minutes and 28 seconds, ultimately ending Edge chance to carry the world title out of his hometown. I really loved how different this match was for Cena, and he adapted accordingly. Thanks to a little help from a Ladder Match veteran, Cena was grateful to Edge.
