Realistically, one Ken Anderson won’t change the ratings overnight. Stone Cold had Mr.McMahon, he had a collection of other talents such as Michaels, Taker, The Rock, Foley, Kane, Triple H, who all helped keep the momentum and entertainment to a level in which many would agree could go down as the best period in the business.
I look at TNA and their want to compete with WWE to be similar as a slot machine. TNA will keep betting and betting, pulling the lever and gaining a few dollars, losing a few, getting back to even. Then as anyone who has ever spent enough time in a casino knows, that one special pull will happen. It will be that one performer who joins the company at the right time while the stars are aligned and WWE drops their guard. Jackpot!
Could Ken Anderson represent that special pull?
Paul Heyman who many fans – I know I do – consider to be a wrestling and entertainment genius was the first person who believed in Anderson, according to Anderson as he recalls the start of his career on the Heyman Hustle. Heyman also spent a lot of time around Austin before he was Stone Cold in the earlier part of his career.
My point?
I’ve never met Heyman, but he comes off as the type who isn’t going to promote or "go to bat" for just anyone.
Perhaps, he really did see the future in Anderson. Perhaps, he knew Anderson would have the goods that Austin and the Rock possessed. And perhaps, just like them, Heyman knew Anderson had the ability to take a wrestling organization to a new level.
In my last article I talked about how in the wrestling business, things go in cycles and history repeats. I’m calling it right now that I think Ken Anderson is about to make history.
