Nick’s Pay-Per-Review: WWE Survivor Series 2009

Triple Threat Match for The WWE Title: Triple H vs Shawn Michaels vs John Cena: This was one hell of a match. The opening seconds of HBK’s kick to the face of Triple H was the best opening of a match I’ve seen this year, and it set the tone for what I thought was the best match of the evening. All three of these guys worked their asses off, but in the end I am very disappointed that DX did not walk away with the title. If WWE is going to continue booking the same tired acts at the top of every PPV card, then at the very least they could have put the title around the waist of someone like DX so that we could see something fresh with an ensuing melt down of the tag team and eventual title battle between HBK and HHH. Yes, it’s been done before, but it’s the most original idea WWE could come up with of everything else we have seen before that they keep rehashing. John Cena is stale, and I fear that tonight on Raw, DX will go back to being best friends and John Cena will come out and make his tired old "the champ is here" speech for everyone to moan and gripe about. Here’s to hoping that WWE continues what it did so well last night; and that is to continue pushing new talent to the top so that one day we can all hear Cena saying "the champ is no where near." 8.5 Stars.

Overall, I thought Survivor Series 2009 was a success, and it elevated new talent in addition to providing some excitement in the ring. Out of a possible 9 stars, I give Survivor Series 2009 7 Stars.
