Nick’s Picks: WrestleZone’s Annual Awards Of 2009

Most Overrated Superstar of 2009: Bobby Lashley

I was very surprised to see readers vote for stars like John Cena, Randy Orton and Triple H in this category. Those aforementioned wrestlers are not overrated, they’re overexposed, and there’s a big difference. The difference is that they are all talented and very good at what they do, however the creative team hasn’t figured out how to keep them fresh and unique and have relied on them too often to be main event players. This does not mean they are overrated, however. On the flip side, I do believe that someone like Bobby Lashley is actually overrated. He was hailed as TNA’s “Boss” and one of the biggest free agent acquisitions the company has made in awhile, but what has his TNA debut amounted to? Lashley gives one of the worst promos in the business, has virtually no charisma, and has done nothing to live up to the “rating” that TNA gave him when he signed with the company. This makes him the most overrated wrestler of 2009 in my opinion.
