Nick’s 1/4 Raw Review: The Good, The Bad & The Wrestling

DX vs JeriShow: As I said before, this was a good match, but of course was marred by the inevitable appearance of Hornswoggle. It’s going to be a shame to see Jericho leave Raw, but in the end the guy deserves a break as he is the only WWE performer consistently working both Raw and Smackdown. As for Big Show, I’m not sure where he’ll go form here, but I am going to guess that it won’t be too far.

Sheamus vs Evan Bourne: I know a lot of people are going to complain about the Bourne squash, but in the end it made sense. WWE needs to establish Sheamus as a player with dominance, and making quick work of a talent like Bourne at least puts Sheamus on a higher platform. Yes, it’s sad to see Bourne linger where he’s at, but I’m sure at some point, like Kofi Kingston, WWE will give the guy a push, but last night they ultimately made the right now. WWE capitalized on Cena’s absence by having Sheamus go over strong, and that should help fuel him heading into The Royal Rumble.

Randy Orton vs Kofi Kingston: This was a great match, but unfortunately WWE made the wrong move in giving Orton the win. I’m concerned with Kofi’s current Raw status as his push has seemingly cooled off in the past couple weeks, and he really needed to get the win last night on Raw. It would have made sense from a story line perspective, considering an Orton loss would deepen the tension between him and Legacy. As well, it would have given Kingston a good rub and would have solidified the notion that he can beat Orton. Instead, he has lost several singles matches against Orton at this point, and it really has been established that although he can hang with Orton, he’s not good enough to beat him. Here’s to hoping Kofi picks things up heading onto the road to WrestleMania, as I see him as an early favorite to win Money in the Bank.
