A British Point of View: Should The Streak End?

The million dollar question in the Wrestling Industry today. Should Undertaker’s Wrestlemania undefeated streak end this year when HBK’s career is on the line?

Has WWE put themselves in-between a rock and a hard place? All possible outcomes from this match are going to disappoint fans in some way or another. Is Undertakers career going to be tarnished by losing this match. Is HBK’s career going to be ended or is this just his chance to have another holiday? If so do WWE have yet another career supposedly end, only for them to come back within 6 months.

One thing that cannot be disputed is the A class build up this match is receiving. WWE have done a fantastic job of building up a match-up that we have already seen. The quality of WWE’s promo’s cannot be questioned and I feel that this is the main difference between WWE and TNA at the minute (but that discussion is for a future column) If you have not seen the promo that was done just after the Elimination Chamber PPV then I stronger suggest you check it out. The Placebo song suited the mental mind-set of HBK’s character and created a strong sense that this is a match that must been seen.

Are WWE setting this up to be another send off for a legend, as they did with Ric Flair? Would HBK really going to hang up his boots? All indications point towards HBK taking time off after Wrestlemania but they don’t point to a permanent removal from future programming.

Undertaker is supposedly taking time off at the same time, so is this to make us believe he will lose or just disappear for a while as he has done previously.

One thing is certain is that the match will be emotional. These two individuals are coming towards the latter stages of their in ring performances but are still masters in story telling between those ropes.

Would WWE dare to try some kind of draw within the decision. Something that I highly doubt but knowing Vince anything is possible.

I admittedly am a massive HBK fan and although I recognise that Undertaker’s streak should not be something that is just destroyed, I also cannot accept that HBK has to put Undertaker over for 2 Wrestlemania’s running.

This is something that I am hotly anticipating and my only hope is that the match manages to capture the emotion that they managed to create in Houston last year.

Do you think that WWE will try and throw a draw on us? Will there be a massive switch in one of the characters to try and make the fans side with one of the competitors during the match? Will Undertaker’s legacy stay intact and will we have to watch legitimately HBK walk away as a competitor or will we be fooled into thinking he’s gone only for him to return?
