So the vuvuzela sales are brisk at the gimmick tables for this year’s World Cup. Does that mean it’s a good thing? No… especially when TV is such a critical partner to making the World Cup successful. TV hates the vuvuzela! If WWE fans blew vuvuzelas non-stop, Kevin Dunn would have a stroke. (Wait! Maybe the vuvuzela’s aren’t so bad… I’m kidding!)
Not really.
Anyway, TV is doing all they can to lessen the negative impact of those stupid horns. It’s already impacted me… I shut the games off and I like soccer. Imagine how the “super-casual” fan is reacting… So, why not outlaw them and ban them from the stadium? Apparently, political correctness. I throw up in my mouth a little every time I type or say “political correctness” but word is fans in South Africa would be “offended” if their horns were taken away.
If the vuvuzela plague spreads to other sports, will league leaders be powerless to stop it? Would it be bad if the ear-splitting plastic disasters came to wrestling? I think the horns would get taken from fans faster than “Bryan Danielson” signs. But, since political correctness led to Danielson’s firing, it might have staying power in the PGWWE. In fact, look for a heel in WWE to use the vuvuzela to try and get heat very soon.
So, the vuvuzela is ruining the 2010 World Cup and you have to wonder if the Vuvuzela Inventor was a fan of Steve Austin.
