DUMB? NO, DUMBER
If Dixie Carter, as reported, blames the wrestlers for the mess TNA is, that merits congratulations. She’s even dumber than I thought. Either that, or Dixie doesn’t own a mirror.
Make no mistake, TNA employs plenty of dead weight both in and outside the ring. But there’s enough decent talent there to have a reasonably entertaining wrestling promotion, certainly better than TNA is now. TNA’s problem is that its talent is poorly utilized. TNA’s problem is the booking. Creative needs to do better. A lot better.
The wrestlers can always work harder, sure. But I wouldn’t necessarily characterize too many TNA performers as lazy. The booking decisions are a lot worse than the in-ring work rate. If the wrestlers are, as reported, mad at Dixie, they should be.
It’s easy to see where Dixie’s tirade came from: TNA creative has a siege mentality due to Paul Heyman’s demand that he be given absolute power, which means most/all of them would be canned. So TNA creative is telling Dixie, “It’s not our fault. It’s the wrestlers’ fault. The wrestlers need to do better. They’re letting the company down.”
Sounds like one, big happy family to me.
Dixie allegedly called the wrestlers “spoiled.” The overpaid stars, maybe. But if I’m one of the guys or gals making $300 or $600 per for a minimal amount of shots, my blood would be boiling.
The word is that finally, TNA has to improve or face the prospect of the plug being pulled. About time.
