The following is the debut column of Sean Morley (aka Val Venis) exclusively here on WrestleZone.com.  Each week, Morley will share his thoughts on the world of professional wrestling, his latest projects, and other non-wrestling topics.  You can email Sean Morley at [email protected] and follow him on twitter @valvenisent

Welcome to my first ever WrestleZone.com column.  I am very excited to be writing for WrestleZone and I hope you all enjoy my random thoughts. In the words of UFC’s Mike Goldberg, HERE WE GOOOOO!

What at night for the UFC at Mandalay Bay Events Center Saturday as the young gun Jon Jones defeated Ryan Bader with a guillotine choke in the 2nd round. Dana White then shocked the young gun and MMA fans around the world when he offered Jon Jones a shot at Mauricio “Shogun” Rua’s light heavyweight title. The offical title fight will be one you won’t want to miss at UFC 128 in March. Jones record improves to 12-1 with his win over Bader.

As for Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort, I really did not expect anything less than the explosive finish Silva provided with a quick front kick to the chin of Belfort. I did expect the fight however to go at least into the 2nd round and was surprised by the quick 1st round knockout. With Dana White continuing to market Silva as the “pound for pound greatest fighter in the world”, I do expect to see GSP at some point jump up to middleweight and easily claim the title of “pound for pound the greatest fighter in the world!” Silva vs GSP would be a fight for the ages. That said, I do believe GSP would make Silva look like an amateur. I have to wonder if Dana White is calling Silva “pound for pound, the greatest fighter in the world” in order to get under GSP’s skin and force him to move up to middleweight?

I did not watch TNA this week but was surprised when the ratings for TNA were somewhat strong for TNA standards at 1.31 with 1,953,000 viewers. My surprise turned to shock as I read Matt Hardy (@MattHardyBrand) tweeted  “Hulkster & Jeff brought me in & the ratings keep growin – Coincidence? I think not! FACT! .. Dixie, u can thank ME & Jeff 4 the ratings jump – just saying” WOW! This fat, out of shape bone head really does think his stool doesn’t stink. Matt Hardy is becoming the “tool” for the ages! This is the same guy who put on wrestling shows in his backyard using a trampoline with ropes as a ring. Mr Anderson draws money. Matt Hardy…not so much!

On a political note, I will be going head to head with one of Arizona’s top talk radio show hosts tonight on the Mike Broomhead show. For those in Phoenix and around Arizona, tune into 550am. Elsewhere, you can listen live at www.KFYI.com. I called Broomhead out in a video last week while taking a cheap pot shot at Matt Hardy along the way. You can watch the video by CLICKING HERE. I say there are 4 branches of government and Broomhead states there are only 3 branches of government. Tune in for this epic cage match tonight Monday Feb 7. The show goes from 4pm MST till 7pm MST.

Finally, I would like to introduce all the Wrestlezone.com readers to my new site at www.ScriptDanger.com. I will be speaking around the nation and pushing the powerful message regarding the dangers of prescription drug abuse. Prescription drug abuse has become a devastating epidemic across America and Canada. If you would like info on how I can speak at your High school, college or university, please visit www.ScriptDanger.com and click the contact tab.

Till next time, I am THE Val Venis saying so long till next week!
