SmackDown Live Review
Tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live was a jam packed one full of interesting events. To help you digest the episode, check out our five takeaways from the latest episode that showcased the blue brand in our SmackDown Live review for the December 11, 2018 episode.
Asuka
With how rarely Asuka has really been utilized on SmackDown for the back half of the year, this match was a great reminder that she’s one of the best female wrestlers alive. Her and Charlotte managed to put on a great SmackDown main event. However, it ended in a pretty predictable (and disappointing) way as Charlotte beat Asuka with a kendo stick to cause a disqualification.
That said, the final minute with Becky getting revenge was beyond awesome, and it was great to see Asuka get into the mix as well. It did what a good go-home segment should – get viewers thrilled for TLC.
Winter is Coming

I don’t just want the Co-Besties at this point. I need them. The Miz and Shane McMahon have been incredibly entertaining in their segments, and I want to see them go for tag team gold so badly. They’re exactly the shake up that the division needs, and their oddball chemistry is a laugh riot.
What A Rap Battle
Reoccurring rap battles are one of the weirdest parts of SmackDown Live, but I’m not complaining! Once again The Usos were great in this rhythmic segment, however The Bar stole the show with “Ice Ice Sheamy.” It was a hilarious segment, and a great way to add some laughs to the show.
Randy Orton Gets What He Deserves
So much of Randy Orton’s current heel run has focused on him running amok, so it was nice to see him taste some of his own medicine thanks to a sneak attack by Rey Mysterio. Both of the veterans have looked fantastic as of late, and it’s easily becoming one of my most hyped WWE TLC matches.
Ali’s Time to Shine
It was great to see Mustafa Ali getting some airtime on the main roster. This match against Daniel Bryan definitely upped his profile, and will only be a positive for him going forward. The match itself was a fun television bout (one that I wish went a bit longer), and while it won’t be remembered as a classic or anything, it’s a cool footnote to have on a go-home show of SmackDown.
