WWE RAW Review: Hits And Misses For March 17

Welcome or welcome back to our weekly WWE RAW hits and misses series where we recap all the good and bad from the show.

Hit – John Cena breaks up with the WWE Universe

This isn’t how I expected John Cena’s first promo since turning heel to go down on WWE RAW. Still, I enjoyed it for a couple of reasons. Cena’s delivery has always been tremendous and last night was no exception. All the pent up rage and frustration really went out. The face and heel line would’ve made Vince choke on his headset. Rhodes’ response was somewhat underwhelming but we’ve still got weeks to witness the build-up.

Miss – Dakota Kai vs. Ivy Nile

Nothing of substance except for the Chad Gable distraction which, ideally, would’ve favored Ivy Nile. The women’s division hasn’t really improved since Triple H became the head booker except for a few names.

Hit – No Holds Barred on WWE RAW

Fun match between Penta and Ludwig Kaiser. This should’ve been the opener instead of the John Cena-Cody Rhodes segment we got in the early goings. Penta has all the momentum in the world to challenge Bron Breakker for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Let’s see if this match happens on RAW or at WrestleMania.

Miss – Jey Uso and Gunther brawl on WWE RAW

This writer has lost interest in this feud because of all the pull apart brawls we’ve seen between these two men on WWE RAW. Gunther had the upper hand last. Jey stood tall this week. We’ll witness the same as we get closer and closer to WrestleMania.

Hit – Rhea Ripley puts pen to paper

Rhea putting pen to paper was an interesting way to set up the triple threat for WrestleMania 41. Bianca got the heel treatment in Brussels. International crowds seem to hate the EST. IYO got cheered. The table wasn’t feeling Rhea going into business for herself. It seems Adam Pearce has no choice but to make it official for WrestleMania.

Miss – LWO vs. American Made on WWE RAW

Screw the commercials. They took most of the match. Brussels loves Rey. The Masked Luchadore’s appearance was the highlight of the match for this writer. The whole mystery surrounding the person has even got Chad Gable intrigued.

Hit – Bron Breakker vs. Finn Balor

A really got match between Bron Breakker and Finn Balor but this shouldn’t have been the main event. That spot should’ve been left to Cena and Cody. Breakker was bleeding from his mouth. He seems to have modified his spear because it looks more of a jumping tackle. That said, I popped hard when Breakker hit Roman with the spear at the Royal Rumble.
