WWE NXT Review: Hits And Misses For February 25

Welcome or welcome back to our weekly WWE NXT hits and misses series where we recap all the good and bad from the show. There was plenty going on this week, including Ricky Saints’ in-ring debut and the Hardys’ return. Let’s get into what worked and what didn’t.

Miss – Title for Title at WWE NXT Roadblock

This writer feels like having Giulia challenge Stephanie diminishes the value of the NXT Women’s Championship. It should’ve been the other way around. Plus, it’s too early to pit the two stars against each other.

We know the titles aren’t changing hands at Roadblock. NXT wants to sell out MSG and Giulia versus Stephanie Vaquer does seem like a great match on paper. This writer would like to give props to Karmen Petrovic for holding her own against Stephanie.

Hit – Moose vs. Lexis King

Many thought Moose should’ve squashed Lexis King, but that line of thinking doesn’t make much sense. There is a working relationship between NXT and TNA, but letting a champion from another promotion run through a reigning NXT titleholder doesn’t sound like a smart idea.

Moose managed to showcase himself in front of a new crowd while King looked strong in defeat. Both looked impressive, and building up both sides should be the point of the partnership. This writer is looking forward to Oba Femi vs. Moose at NXT Roadblock.

Miss – Jordynne Grace and Roxanne Perez segment

Let’s just move Roxanne Perez to the main roster. She’s had a great run in WWE NXT. Yes, there’s history between Perez and Grace but his writer is interested in seeing Grace but heads with the likes of ZARIA and Lash Legend.

Grace had an unfortunate wardrobe issue during the scuffle, but at least she was in good spirits about it after the show.

Hit – The Hardys vs. NQCC on WWE NXT

It was surreal to see Matt and Jeff work a WWE match. The crowd loved every second of it so did this writer. Vic Joseph delivered the quote of the night when he said Myles Borne heard the ovation for the Hardys. I thought Myles was gonna hit an RKO out of nowhere but he did a nice bodyslam. Matt and Jeff will be in action at NXT Roadblock.

Miss – The mystery group strikes again…

The mystery group had a cameo last night on NXT. The group seemingly took out NQCC. They really missed out by not having Ava sell the angle. She was all smiles during her backstage interview. It seems the writers didn’t even care to write a follow-up to what went down between the hoodied figures and NQCC.

Hit – Ricky Saints’ WWE NXT in-ring debut

This was a fun NXT debut match for Ricky Saints. Ethan Page and Wes Lee were the right opponents for Saints and Evans. The crowd with the Tony Khan fumbled chants had this writer hollering. Saints will be a champion in NXT very soon.
