WWE SmackDown Review: Hits And Misses For February 21

Welcome or welcome back to our weekly WWE SmackDown hits and misses series where we recap all the good and bad from the show.

Hit – Jimmy Uso vs. Drew McIntyre on WWE SmackDown

Good WWE SmackDown opener. Seeing Jimmy get the spotlight in a solo run makes this writer happy. The top rope move by Big Jim was a thing of beauty. McIntyre is a badass for wrestling after getting his knee drained. The diabolical laugh after the Claymore spot is one of the many reasons McIntyre is a must-see act.

Miss – LA Knight & R-Truth vs. Carmelo Hayes & The Miz

What did LA Knight do that got him pushed down the midcard? The feud with Nakamura hasn’t been interesting in months. This writer was hoping he’d move to RAW via the transfer window but it seems he’s going to stay on SmackDown for a while. As for the match, Truth and Melo were the highlights.

Hit – The Street Profits take out everyone

What was stopping Hunter from giving us this version of The Street Profits when they were with Bobby Lashley? Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins looked absolutely dominant in their annihilation of THREE tag teams on WWE SmackDown. As for the match, this was the most intense performance I’ve seen from Pretty Deadly. Looking forward to what’s in store for the tag team title picture.

Miss – It doesn’t look like Tiffy Time…

They could’ve replaced the in-ring promo with a backstage segment. Tiffany clearly isn’t comfortable on the mic. Plus, why did it take her so long to beat Candice LeRae? That’s now how you book a world champion. As for Trish Stratus, she almost got crushed by Nia. Lastly, they left Tiffany for the second straight week in the ring so Charlotte could do the stupid sign-point thing.

Hit – Damian Priest and Braun Strowman vs. Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu

Good tag team action. Jacob Fatu never fails to impress this writer. That said, the whole build to Fatu versus Solo seems rushed. They don’t need the accidental attack spots to build a rumored match at WrestleMania. Priest with a huge South of Heaven for the win was a great watch.

Miss – The Rock’s promo on WWE SmackDown

This one dragged for far too long. The Rock’s improvisational skills have seen better days. Last night’s WWE SmackDown promo wasn’t one of them. Rocky is starting to sound like Jon Moxley with all the riddles in his promos. It has become kind of repetitive. The only better part of the promo was Rock asking Rhodes for his soul. Elimination Chamber is certainly going to be interesting between these two.
