WWE NXT Vengeance Day went down at Washington’s Entertainment and Sports Arena on Saturday, February 15. The PLE streamed live on Peacock in the US and Netflix worldwide. Here’s what went down at WWE Vengeance Day.
A new champion is crowned at NXT Vengeance Day
The first match of the night saw Fallon Henley defend her NXT Women’s North American Championship against Stephanie Vaquer. The challenger dominated the majority of the match with her technical prowess. Fatal Influence’s interference didn’t amount to much because Stephanie ran through them all. The consistent slow pace stopped this writer from giving the NXT Vengeance Day opener a solid eight out of 10.

Fraxiom vs. Josh Briggs & Yoshiki Inamura for the WWE NXT Tag Team Championship
Fraxiom may just be GOATED at this point when it comes to their work rate. I don’t know when was the last time I saw Frazer and Axiom have a bad tag team match. Briggs and Inamura had a an impressive PLE showing. The top-rope chokeslam from Briggs to Frazer on Axiom looked incredible. Both teams showed respect to each other after the match before they were taken out by NXT’s new mystery group.

Trick Williams vs. Eddy Thorpe in a strap match at WWE NXT Vengeance Day
The weakest match of the night with a surprising outcome. It seems Trick is going to be out of the NXT title picture for a while. That leaves Thorpe as the potential next contender to richest prize on the brand. Trick was clearly the better wrestler at NXT Vengeance Day but Thorpe’s awareness enabled him to pin a former NXT Champion.

Je’Von Evans vs. Ethan Page
Another match that surprised this writer with the outcome. Evans was the sympathetic babyface going into this match but it was his opponent that got the last enough. The addition of blood really added to this match. Even the mouthpiece didn’t save Evans from getting busted open. Ethan Page seems to be out for blood and he probably won’t stop till he gets back the NXT title.

Triple threat match for the NXT Championship
A really good match with incredible work from all three competitors. Theory has always been awesome but Grayson Waller looked impressive as hell in this match. As for Oba Femi, he might just call himself as the king of triple threat matches. He does so well in multi-man outings. Triple H should’ve sent A-Town Down Under months ago to NXT because Chef Michaels clearly booked their break-up angle better. The mystery group attack angle implied the four men have an agenda against NXT champions.

Fatal four-way main event at WWE NXT Vengeance Day
This NXT Vengeance Day main event is my early pick for Match of the Year Contender. Who would’ve thought Cora Jade would impress in this match?! This writer certainly didn’t. Bayley provided the veteran’s touch which helped the match retain its flow. Roxanne Perez and Giulia looked great as well. Giulia pinning Roxanne has me thinking this was Perez’s last match in NXT. If that’s the case, I’d like to extend my appreciation to the Prodigy for helping elevate NXT’s women’s division. The post-match moment between Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer and Jordynne Grace was a great way to cap off the PLE.
