WWE NXT Review: Hits And Misses For February 4

Welcome or welcome back to our weekly WWE NXT hits and misses series where we recap all the ups and downs from the show.

Hit – Stephanie Vaquer vs. Jacy Jayne

Jacy Jayne had a strong showing against Stephanie Vaquer, who made her WWE Royal Rumble debut this past Saturday. This is where NXT excels, as they know how to properly use veterans. Vaquer’s win was never in doubt, but Jacy didn’t go down without a fight. It will be interesting to see how Shawn Michaels books Fatal Influence after WWE NXT Vengeance Day.

Miss – Lexis King’s promo on WWE NXT

This promo was a miss, and it suffered from a fan who kept yelling while King was speaking. JDC’s appearance was a fun surprise, and he could have come out earlier, as King’s promo felt too long. The former Fandango got a nice pop. Let’s see if he puts over King or takes the NXT Heritage Cup to TNA.

Hit – Women’s tag team match on WWE NXT

ZARIA and Ruca may seem like an odd pairing, but these two gel together. Their combination of strength and agility might be what the WWE NXT women’s roster needs to bring the tag team titles back home. Gigi and Tatum had a nice showing as well, as they got their timing perfect with the double enziguri.

Miss – Ridge Holland gets another title match

Ridge Holland is once again in the title picture after previously failing to claim the NXT Championship. Holland beat Stacks, who put up a solid effort but ultimately fell came out on the losing end. Izzi Dame suggested a steel cage match for the NXT North American Championship, and the bout was confirmed for next week. It seems like she’ll be the one to cost D’Angelo his title against Holland.

Hit – The present meets the future

It’s always great to see different generatoons interact with each other. Giulia will be defending the NXT Women’s Championship against Bayley and Roxanne Perez. Charlotte Flair inserted herself into the situation, as she has to pick her WrestleMania opponent. Cora Jade has her own issues with Bayley and Roxanne as well. This was a lot more compelling than the Charlotte Flair-Rhea Ripley segment on RAW this past Monday.

Honorable Mentions

  • Je’Von Evans and Ethan Page were kept apart by security during their backstage segment. Evans has to get cleared (which he will) if he wants to get Page at NXT Vengeance Day. It’ll be fun to see Evans back in action.
  • Trick Williams and Oba Femi reluctantly teamed up in the main event. The animosity was evident from the get-go. A-Town Down Under got the win after Eddy Thorpe interfered, so it looks like Trick is back to doing side quests before he gets back into the title picture.
