Welcome or welcome back to our weekly WWE RAW hits and misses series where we recap some of the biggest ups and downs from the show.
Hit – War Raiders vs. The Judgment Day
This was a solid first televised defense for the Raiders. McDonagh’s head landed hard against the table. That was a scary bump. McDonagh continued the match despite the awkward landing. War Raiders picked up the win after hitting their finisher on Dominik Mysterio for the win.
McDonagh has since said he’ll miss a few months due to injuries sustained during the match.
Miss – Women’s tag team match on WWE RAW
The tag team champions should’ve won because they have a title defense coming up against the Meta Girls. Losing against Liv and Raquel didn’t make Bianca and Naomi look strong. It seems Triple H has plans for Liv and Raquel to become champions or he wouldn’t have booked them to win the match.
Hit – New Day sucks
The New Day have been public enemy number one since they turned on Big E. Even Ludwig Kaiser and Butch Pete Dunne aren’t fans of the group over how they treated E.
To make matters worse, Woods’ family wore New Day sucks shirts after showing up for his match against Rey. The heel turn is, without a doubt, the best thing to happen to the group since their formation 10 years ago.
Miss – No Roman Reigns on WWE RAW
Roman Reigns didn’t show up on RAW despite being announced as the cover superstar of WWE 2K25. Paul Heyman did a solid job with the promo but having Reigns show up in person would’ve been a lot better. McIntyre seems to be descending into a whole new level of madness. Let’s see if his actions speak louder than words this Saturday.
Hit – Cody Rhodes & CM Punk sound off before Royal Rumble
The only problem with this promo was its placement. It should’ve preceded the match between Sami and McIntyre so the brawl could’ve ended the show. This year’s Rumble has got to be extremely unpredictable based on last night’s promo alone. Punk’s line when he said he’ll stab Rhodes from the front was cold. Rhodes’ retaliation with the grave reference was great as well.
Honorable Mentions
- Logan Paul declared for the Royal Rumble. Paul is a heat magnet because the crowd didn’t want to hear a word from his mouth. Word on the internet is that WWE is considering Paul as Gunther’s opponent. The match does sound interesting on paper, to be bluntly honest.
- The WWE Universe isn’t getting a singles match featuring the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at the Rumble. This seems like a missed opportunity considering Royal Rumble is one of the big four WWE PLEs. WWE supposedly didn’t have enough time to build a feud for Lyra. Let’s see how she fares this Saturday.
