WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Review

It’s time to recap WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

WWE returned to NBC for Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 25th, 2025. The television special emanated from San Antonio, Texas. International viewers (in select markets) got to watch the broadcast on YouTube.

Here’s what went down on Saturday night.

Rhea Ripley and Nia Jax kicked off WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

This was a solid opener between two women who seem destined to meet again. Rhea and Nia play off of each other really well. Jax hit Ripley a cheap shot before the bell, which was a textbook heel move. Ripley showcased her impressive strength throughout the bout. In the end, the Riptide sealed the win for “Mami”. As for Nia, she has declared for the Royal Rumble, so she will aim to win the match and punch her ticket to WrestleMania.

Bron Breakker vs. Sheamus for the Intercontinental Championship

It was great to see Jesse Ventura do commentary for this match in particular. “The Body” was in attendance when Sheamus won the battle royal to earn a world title in 2009. “The Celtic Warrior” worked stiff, but Breakker slowed down the momentum with a brutal mid-air spear. Michael Cole noted how Sheamus looked to win the title that’s eluded him many times before. Sheamus delivered a valiant effort, but it seems like the curse can’t be broken.

Ladder Match Contract Signing at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

The legendary Shawn Michaels made a special appearance on Saturday night. Michaels made it clear he was there to make sure that the contract was signed. Owens took some shots at Michaels and even went to hit him with a piledriver. Michaels clearly can’t take any bumps, let alone a piledriver. Still, the sight of Micharls hitting the Sweet Chin Music was a fun surprise.

Jacob Fatu destroyed Braun Strowman

What a post-match segment. Jacob Fatu completely annihilated Braun Strowman. This writer wanted Fatu to look strong in our WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Preview and Predictions, and he came out looking like an absolute beast. The crowd wanted more moonsaults and Fatu gave them exactly what they wanted. His eventual feud with Roman Reigns should be a lot of fun.

The Yeet Master vs. The Ring General

Uso is still one of the biggest stars on the WWE roster. It’s amazing to see the fans’ support for Jey remain so strong despite his failure to win when it matters the most. Gunther is a rare bread. He is excellent at making his opponents look strong in defeat. The spear reversal into powerbomb was a great counter that led to Gunther scoring the win. Let’s see who “The Ring General” winds up facing at WrestleMania 41.
