WWE RAW Review: Hits And Misses For January 20

Welcome or welcome back to our weekly WWE RAW hits and misses series where were recap some of the biggest ups and downs from the show.

WWE presented the go-home RAW for Saturday Night’s Main Event 2025 from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX.

Here’s what went down on the third episode of Monday Night RAW on Netflix.

Miss – Kofi Kingston vs. Rey Mysterio

This writer can’t remember the last time he saw Kofi Kingston wrestling in jeans. This looked more like an outfit apt for a Street Fight. It seems we’ll see more of this as part of New Day’s heel presentation. I don’t know if WWE has any substantial for Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde apart from taking bumps for Rey. Kingston needed a win here instead of Rey snatching one.

Hit – Kevin Owens appears on WWE RAW

Kevin Owens interrupted Sami Zayn after he declared for the Royal Rumble. Owens said he wanted to see Sami win so they could both walk out with the titles at WrestleMania. A part of me actually wants to see both these men recreate the iconic Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit moment but there are far more bigger storylines in WWE at the moment. Plus, the internet would go mad at the mere hint of it.

Miss – Rhea Ripley announces her title match

Rhea Ripley brawled with Nia Jax after what this writer think was a great match between Bayley and Nia. Giving Nia the win was a good move since she’s fresh off losing her WWE Women’s Championship to Tiffany Stratton. Rhea didn’t need to deliver the announcement. Adam Pearce could’ve just yelled Saturday Night’s Main Event and it would’ve been official.

Hit – Penta vs. Pete Dunne on WWE RAW

Penta’s second WWE match came against the Bruiserweight Pete Dunne himself. This writer likes how they’re slowly establishing Penta in front of the WWE Universe by putting him in matches against some great opponents. This match was shorter compared to Penta’s first WWE RAW outing last week, but it was really good for a TV match nonetheless.

Miss – Damage CTRL vs. PFC

PFC sounds like a football club. This writer is unable to understand what WWE is trying to achieve with Pure Fusion Collective. One week they are taking out Damage CTRL. The next week they are jobbing out to Dakota Kai and IYO SKY. Make up your mind, Hunter.

Hit – Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre on WWE RAW

I like how they didn’t decide to spam finishers like they did at WrestleMania XL. This might’ve the most work-rate heavy match between these two men. A lot of moves that kept the match going for at least 15 minutes before Rollins picked up a sneaky pinfall win. Sami’s post match run-in was solid and added to the brewing tension with Rollins.

Honorable Mentions

  • Jey Uso and Gunther got physical after a promo battle. Jey took Gunther out of the ring. He may not win this Saturday but the Yeet Master has got heart and the support of the entire WWE Universe.
  • CM Punk cut a promo from the crowd. He mentioned how he was going to take out his opponents from the Royal Rumble. The crowd booed a little when Punk mentioned Cena but erupted in cheers when he took a jab at Hulk Hogan.
