WWE RAW Review: Hits And Misses For December 16

Welcome or welcome back to the latest edition of WWE RAW review where we recap some of the biggest hits and misses from the show.

Last night’s RAW emanated from Boston’s TD Garden in Massachusetts. CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Rhea Ripley, and Liv Morgan among others worked the show.

Here’s what went down on the December 16 episode of Monday Night RAW.

Hit – CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins is official!

Punk’s promo seemed like it could go forever but, thankfully, Rollins appeared to stir up the heat. These two play off each other incredibly well. The brawl was enough for Adam Pearce to book CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins for WWE RAW’s debut on Netflix next month. This writer is looking forward to the showdown.

Miss – Rhea Ripley & Liv Morgan segment on WWE RAW

The crowd should, sometimes, let Dominik talk. This writer gets that he’s the ultimate heel but all the boos can only go so far. Liv is still annoying on the mic. The bullhorn only made her voice sound worse than it is. She could’ve just jumped Rhea the moment Mami declared herself the number one contender.

What’s the point of having backup when you can’t use it effectively?! A beatdown segment could’ve been tied to the triple threat instead of having Raquel just stand there waiting for her opponents to make their entrance.

Hit – Women’s triple threat match

This was a solid match that did its job in the amount of TV time it got. Kayden looked impressive. Raquel’s strength didn’t help her much because she failed to advance to the next round in the Intercontinental Championship Tournament. This writer was definitely surprised by the outcome because WWE could’ve used the tournament to build Raquel into a legitimate threat to the women’s division.

Miss – Chad Gable and Otis segment on WWE RAW

Why are American Made and Alpha Academy still feuding on RAW? This writer thought it was all over between the two factions. American Made really needs to move past these filler feuds. They haven’t established themselves as the top guys despite their tremendous talent and potential. Hopefully, next year is going to be huge for Chad Gable and his group.

Hit – Judgment Day vs. War Raiders for the World Tag Team Championship

War Raiders claimed the tag team titles after a great back-and-forth match with The Judgment Day. Erik and Ivar deserve every bit of the victory. They are closing out 2024 are the World Tag Team Champions. Finn Balor got what he deserved. The feud with Damian Priest needs a proper conclusion, and it will.

Honorable Mentions

  • Bron Breakker and Ludwig Kaiser had a solid scrap for the Intercontinental Championship. Breakker could’ve used the spear on multiple occasions but he went for the jumping knee strike and shoulder tackle, for some odd reason. Kaiser may have lost this one but this writer can see big things ahead for the German.
  • The New Day got kicked out the locker room on WWE RAW by none other than Rey Mysterio. This could’ve been more effective if WWE had all the babyfaces standing behind Rey to reinforce his decision. Woods and Kingston didn’t jump the Hall of Famer but this seems to be the start of a major storyline. Of course, the writer is pumped.
