WWE NXT Review: Hits And Misses For December 10

Welcome or welcome back to our weekly WWE NXT hits and misses series where we recap some of the biggest highlights (and underwhelming moments) from the show.

Last night’s episode emanated from the PC in Orlando, FL. Featured acts included Trick Williams, Roxanne Perez, Oba Femi, Giulia, and more.

Here’s what went down on the December 10 episode of NXT.

Miss – Opening segment on WWE NXT

They kept Giulia’s part of the promo short. Roxanne really needs to work on her mic skills if she wants to get a permanent spot on the main roster. Putting Cora Jade on the upper card is obviously a choice but they don’t have many main-even heels with credible mic skills.

Hit – Je’Evon Evans vs. Wes Lee

These two went back and forth for nearly 12 minutes without messing up the pace. Evans has some of the best-looking high-flying moves in his arsenal. Wes Lee can work great with just about anybody. But Evans isn’t anybody. He’s clearly being primed to win a singles title down the line.

Miss – Eddy Thorpe’s promo on WWE NXT

Thorpe seems to be lacking majorly when it comes to live promos. He needs to improve on the mic. He looked severely out of place with Oba Femi and Trick Williams inside the ring. Speaking of Trick, the NXT Champion will probably pass the torch to Oba at New Year’s Evil before using the transfer window to land on either RAW or SmackDown.

Hit – Shotzi is back

Shotzi made her return after what felt like an underwhelming tag team match between the teams of Gigi Dolin-Tatum Paxley and Jacy Jayne-Jamzyn Nyx. The Women’s North American Championship scene could benefit from Shotzi’s involvement.

Miss – Ethan Page vs. Tony D’Angelo

This match clearly suffered from lack of TV time. Also, the match and the annoying ads didn’t sync at all. NXT and CW really need to fix their ad placement stuff. Page seems to be entering an existential crisis of his own, which would probably make for some interesting character development.

Hit – Women’s tag team main event on WWE NXT

A solid main event to warm up the NXT title scene before we head to New Year’s Evil. Roxanne picking up the win for her team was the right decision. Giulia needs to be protected before she takes the title off of the champion. Stephanie’s run-in should’ve happened during the match to build tension with Giulia.

Honorable Mentions

  • Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura got a video package this week on WWE NXT. This writer remains a fan of Briggs. It was nice to see WWE TV air some Stan Hansen footage during the tag team video package. Stan remains one of the biggest gaijin legends in Japanese wrestling Hopefully, this partnership between Briggs and Inamura leads to something fruitful.
  • Eddy Thorpe pulled off the biggest swerve of the night, and possibly one of the best of NXT in 2024. For those who missed, Thorpe signed his contract for the NXT title match with Trick Williams before telling Ava he faked his injury to avoid getting through “25 minutes of hell” to get his shot at the championship.
