WWE NXT Review: Hits And Misses For December 3

WWE NXT had its go-home episode for Deadline last night at the Performance Center. The show featured two “last chance” Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying matches. Plus, two Hall of Famers popped up to put over young talent.

Here’s what went down on the December 3 episode of NXT.

Jaida Parker’s promo on WWE NXT

Jaida may have failed to qualify for Iron Survivor but she owned Lola Vice and the referee with that promo. Her mic work overshadowed the opening match-up, which was every bit of solid as it gets. Not only did Jaida eviscerated Lola Vice on the mic, she put her to sleep with a devastating back elbow. This writer is really hoping for a banger of a Women’s Underground match at Deadline.

Miss – Men’s tag team battle royal

This writer wanted Stacks and Luca to win the battle royal, but NCCQ aren’t a bad choice either. The whole match was okay, at best, except for the closing stretch; which made things exciting. Myles Borne channeled his inner Randy Orton with that drop kick. That isn’t a diss by any means, it’s compliment for his athletic abilities.

Hit – Trick Williams & Ridge Holland collide before WWE NXT Deadline

Eric Bischoff didn’t really add anything to this segment. He could’ve just stayed on the satellite just like he did last week. Trick and Ridge had some good back and forth exchange. That said, Holland’s lack of charisma will diminish his role on the main roster once he returns. NXT has done something with him main roster wouldn’t: turn him into a contender for a top title.

Miss – Roxanne Perez in-ring segment

They missed a huge opportunity by not having Cora work as Roxanne’s mouth piece. The NXT Women’s Champion cannot cut a promo… no matter her gimmick. On the bright side, they didn’t waste any more time by having each Iron Survivor competitor talk like they did with the WarGames competitors.

Hit – Eddy Thorpe qualifies for WWE NXT Deadline

This was to fast but too fun to watch at the same time. Having Ethan Page on commentary was nice booking. He’s one of the best talkers on NXT today. Every participant in the last chance match-up give their all but only Eddy Thorpe managed to pick up the win. While this writer would’ve loved to see Axiom qualify but Thorpe winning only adds intrigue to how Shawn Michaels will book Thorpe as well as the tag team champions this Saturday.
