AEW Full Gear Preview And Predictions

It’s almost time for AEW Full Gear!

All Elite Wrestling brings its sixth annual Full Gear PPV event to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Saturday (November 23). Tony Khan has booked 10 matches (at the time of this writing) for AEW’s penultimate PPV of 2024.

The 2024 Full Gear start time is 8pm for the main show, which can be steamed live on TrillerTV and PPV.com. AEW will stream the pre-show live on their official YouTube channel. With that in mind, let’s get to our AEW Full Gear Preview and Predictions.

  • “Big Boom!” A.J. (with Big Justice) vs. Q. T. Marshall – This match will take place on the pre-show with The Rizzler as special guest timekeeper.
MJF sends a message to his opponent at AEW Full Gear: Roderick Strong! | 11/20/24, AEW Dynamite

MJF vs. Roderick Strong at AEW Full Gear

Backdrop: MJF laid out a series of stipulations for Adam Cole and Roderick Strong on AEW Dynamite in October. Both men were told to win three matches in order to get their hands on Max. Cole picked up the win his first two matches but would lose to Konosuke Takeshita on 11/13 Dynamite. Strong, on the other hand, would claim his third and final win on the same episode to set up a singles match against MJF at Full Gear.

Prediction: This writer doesn’t expect MJF to lose on one of AEW’s biggest PPVs. Max hasn’t wrestled in three months. He would probably pull off a sneaky win just like he did against Garcia at All Out. He might square off against Kyle O’Reilly before we get to Cole versus MJF III. As for O’Reilly, he isn’t scheduled to wrestle this Saturday in NJ but could possibly show up to build up the Undisputed Kingdom reunion angle.

Before their match at AEW Full Gear, Hangman Page tries to maim Jay White! | 11/6/24 AEW Dynamite

Jay White vs. “Hangman” Adam Page

Backdrop: Jay White was injured during a match against “Hangman” Adam Page in the Owen Hart Tournament. White would return during the lead-up to AEW WrestleDream to set up their singles match. At the PPV, White pulled off an upset after planting Page with a Bladerunner. A rematch was set up for Full Gear the following week on AEW Collision.

Prediction: This feud deserves more love. Their WrestleDream opener was solid. Page seems to be at a disadvantage as far as the numbers game goes. He did manage to get a win over White and Juice Robinson in their tag team match that also featured Christian Cage on 11/13 Dynamite. Page needs to pick up the win to take the score two apiece.

Private Party (c) vs. The Outrunners vs. Kings of the Black Throne vs. The Acclaimed – AEW World Tag Team Championship fatal four-way match

Backdrop: Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen defeated The Young Bucks for the tag team titles at Fright Night Dynamite. AEW held a series of qualifiers to determine their challengers for Full Gear. The Outrunners beat Top Flight. Malakai Black and Brody King defeated FTR. The Acclaimed went over La Facción Ingobernable to claim the final spot in the four-way contender series.

Prediction: Private Party gambled their future and won big time. They deserve a lengthy run with the tag team titles. The title probably (won’t) change hands but we might see FTR move one step closer to their slow-burn heel turn. As for The Acclaimed, they could possibly build to the point where Caster eventually turns on Bowens. The Outrunners will get a huge pop though.

Kris Statlander battles former 3-time AEW Women's World Champ, Hikaru Shida! | 11/20/24 AEW Dynamite

Mercedes Moné (c) (with Kamille) vs. Kris Statlander – AEW TBS Championship match

Backdrop: Kris Statlander signaled her intention to challenge for the TBS Championship after a confrontation with Mercedes Mone on 10/4 Rampage. Statlander would defeat Mone’s bodyguard Kamille at Fright Night Dynamite only to be attacked by Mone after the match. The feud reached its boiling point after Statlander put Mone through a wall two weeks before AEW Full Gear.

Prediction: Kris Statlander may have ended Jade Cargill’s undefeated streak in AEW but she isn’t pinning Mone for the title this Saturday. The only way we could see her beat Mone is if Kamille decides to snap and turn on The CEO. After all, Mone versus Kamille has been heavily teased. Let’s hope AEW doesn’t fumble this potential storyline like they did MJF versus Wardlow back in 2022.

NO DQ for the AEW Women’s World Title! Mariah May (c) vs Anna Jay! | 11/16/24, AEW Collision

Mariah May’s champagne title celebration with Mina Shirakawa at AEW Full Gear

Backdrop: After retaining her title against Anna Jay on 11/16 AEW Collision, Mariah May announced she’d host a champagne title celebration with Mina Shirakawa at AEW Full Gear. Mariah beat Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In 2024.

Prediction: Mariah’s narcissistic attitude will cause a rift between her and Mina at Full Gear. Mariah is already so full of herself and champagne will only make things worse. This is just a prediction from the writer. Don’t be an arrogant mark on the internet if the actual segment is completely different from your or this writer’s fantasy booking.

Bobby Lashley comes face-to-face with Swerve Strickland at FRIGHT NIGHT! | 10/30/24, AEW Dynamite
Video Credit: YouTube

Swerve Strickland vs. Bobby Lashley

Backdrop: Bobby Lashley made his AEW Dynamite debut at Fright Night by dismantling Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana. Strickland challenged Lashley to a match at AEW Full Gear the following week on Dynamite. Lashley’s AEW in-ring debut, however, came three days early before the PPV. He would defeat Cheeseburger and Joe Keyes before being blindsided by a chain-wielding Strickland.

Prediction: Why in the world did Tony Khan book Lashley to wrestle on a Dynamite? This was the same question posed in our 11/20 AEW Dynamite review. Fans were looking forward to Lashley in action at Full Gear. They still are but his in-ring debut kind of took away from the hype. That said, Lashley versus Strickland could end up being a show-stealer. Tony! You better not book Lashley to take the L in his AEW PPV debut.

Daniel Garcia chains the TNT Champion, Jack Perry, to his bus?! | 11/16/24, AEW Collision
Video Credit: YouTube

Jack Perry (c) vs. Daniel Garcia – AEW TNT Championship match

Backdrop: The seeds for this match were planted at AEW WrestleDream when Perry attacked Garcia while his back was turned. The two would but heads in the weeks leading up to AEW Full Gear. Garcia would chain Perry to his own ambulance before driving him to an unknown location. Watch the footage here.

Prediction: Perry is willing to go to extreme lengths. Garcia isn’t. All he did was destroy Jack’s ambulance during the kidnapping angle. Or is it something far more sinister DG wants to show us at Full Gear? Jack has been on the receiving end in this feud. But it is Garcia who’ll get the short end of the stick.

Will Ospreay calls out Kyle Fletcher! | 11/13/24, AEW Dynamite
Video Credit: YouTube

Will Ospreay vs. Kyle Fletcher at AEW Full Gear

Backdrop: Fletcher cost Ospreay his International Championship in a triple threat also featuring Takeshita and Ricochet. Fletcher proceeded to drop Ospreay on his head with the infamous Tiger Driver. Ospreay would return weeks later to set up a match with his former tag team partner for Full Gear.

Prediction: Ospreay mistakenly hit Mark Davis with his running elbow strike during the eight-man tag team match this past Wednesday on Dynamite. Davis would probably see this as a sign of betrayal and reform Aussie Open with Fletcher at Osprey’s expense this Saturday. Fletcher needs this win more than Ospreay.

Ricochet & Will Hobbs vs Takeshita, AEW International Champ, & Kyle Fletcher! | 11/6/24 AEW Dynamite

Konsouke Takeshita (c) vs. Ricochet – AEW International Championship match

Backdrop: Takeshita interfered during the Ricochet versus Ospreay match for the International Title at the Dynamite five-year anniversary show. He’d win the title at WrestleDream following Kyle Fletcher’s interference. As Ospreay occupied himself with Fletcher, Ricochet set his sights on winning his first title in AEW.

Prediction: Ricochet is putting his undefeated streak on the line this Saturday against a man who has shed every bit of remorse since aligning with Don Callis. Takeshita has dared anyone to step up and take the title from him. This bout has MOTY written all over. As for this writer’s prediction, Takeshita retains after a hard-fought match against “The One and Only.”

Orange Cassidy faces former friend, AEW World Trios Champion Wheeler Yuta! | 11/20/24, AEW Dynamite
Video Credit: YouTube

Jon Moxley (c) vs. Orange Cassidy – AEW World Championship match

Backdrop: Orange Cassidy watched Bryan Danielson lose his AEW World Championship to Jon Moxley. He couldn’t save his best friend Chuck Taylor from getting his neck stomped by Mox and his band of Death Riders. Cassidy challenged Mox to a world title match at Fight Night Dynamite, which was made official for AEW Full Gear.

Prediction: Cassidy is the underdog in this feud. Both men delivered one of the best AEW PPV matches of 2023 at All Out. This bout should be no different. Cassidy thrives in bleak situations. He isn’t winning this Saturday but won’t go down without a fight.

WrestleZone will have full coverage of AEW Full Gear as it airs on November 23.
