AEW Dynamite Review: Hits And Misses For November 20

It’s time for a recap of the latest AEW Dynamite!

This week’s Dynamite emanated from Santander Arena in Reading, PA. Top acts included Will Ospreay, Bobby Lashley, MJF, Mercedes Mone, and Mariah May.

Here’s what went down on the final Dynamite before Full Gear.

Hit – All-star tag team match on AEW Dynamite

AEW multi-man matches are a lot of fun and this one was no different. The babyface team had Ricochet, Ospreay, Hobbs, and Mark Davis. The in-ring action kept the crowd glued from bell to bell. Fletcher is a weasel for sacrificing Davis to Ospreay’s running elbow strike. But hey! Winning is what matters. Don’t blame Davis if he betrays Ospreay for Fletcher this Saturday at Full Gear.

Miss – Adam Cole vs Kyle O’Reilly segment

Kyle O’Reilly said Adam Cole is too obsessed with MJF. Is he? All this writer saw was Cole rooting for Roddy to beat the life out of Max at Full Gear. AEW missed out by not having Cole show a little bit of jealousy or resentment, for lack of a better term, for not being able to get Max at Full Gear. Kyle’s addition to the whole feud seems a bit too early even for this whole Undisputed Kingdom reunion we are bound to see.

Hit – Kris Statlander vs. Hikaru Shida on AEW Dynamite

The match was great. Shida had to lose to make Statlander look strong just days before Full Gear. This writer finds Mercedes Mone extremely annoying on the mic. She should’ve listened to the fans and shut the f up. Statlander is probably losing this Saturday to set up Mercedes versus Kamille.

Miss – Bobby Lashley’s in-ring debut on AEW Dynamite

AEW should’ve booked Lashley’s in-ring debut for Full Gear, not AEW Dynamite. This writer feels Tony Khan diminished Lashley’s appeal a bit by making him go against enhancement talents. And the whole chain attack spot! What was the point of Swerve attacking Hurt Syndicate with a chain if they just had to pop back together in the ring minutes later? By the way, why didn’t the CMLL superstars appear on Dynamite as advertised?

Hit – Ishii stalks Chris Jericho

This writer was very sports entertained by Ishii creeping up behind Jericho all the way to the ring. Jericho’s facial expressions were hilarious. They could’ve spread this segment through the show where Y2J tries his best to escape Ishii before he gets confronted by The Conglomeration and signs the contract out of fear instead of the whole in-ring scrap we got.

Orange Cassidy faces former friend, AEW World Trios Champion Wheeler Yuta! | 11/20/24, AEW Dynamite

Miss – Orange Cassidy takes a beating

Cassidy told The Conglomeration not to show up in the main event. They did after he took a beating. This writer would’ve booked Briscoe and the others to appear just in time for The Death Riders to surround OC. Cassidy would’ve stopped them right there. Mox would’ve hesitated before dropping Cassidy with a punch and leaving with The Death Riders. AEW Dynamite would’ve ended with a shot of OC smiling.

Honorable Mentions

  • The Costco Guys got some TV time on AEW Dynamite this week. AJ hyped up his match against QT Marshall. He said he’d bring The Rizzler with him to the PPV. This writer has no clue in the slightest about this Rizzler fella.
  • Darby Allin versus Claudio Castagnoli was brutal and violent. The table spot took away some momentum but the overall action was solid. There was no way Darby was beating a pissed off big muscly European man.
