It’s time to recap WWE NXT!
The November 19 episode of NXT emanated from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL. Featured superstars included NXT Champion Trick Williams, Nikkita Lyons, Jaida Parker, and Tony D’Angelo.
With that said, let’s get down to the biggest hits and misses from this week’s NXT.
Miss – Eddy Thorpe fails to qualify for WWE NXT Deadline
This writer is a fan of Eddy Thorpe so him losing a big match is a real bummer. On the bright side, it seems NXT creative has some big plans for Eddy. The post-match segment with Ava teased some big things for the former Karl Fredericks. The bigger storyline is, obviously, the tension between Frazer and Axiom, who has “All Ego” to put down next week.
Hit – Jaida Parker vs. Stephanie Vaquer
One of Miss Parker’s better NXT TV matches. Vaquer clearly made Parker look like a million bucks. Wrestling Twitter had high praise for both competitors but, apparently, their appreciation wasn’t directed towards in-ring action. This writer can tell because he read the comments. The final superkick looked stiff and Miss Parker took it like a champ.
Miss – Brooks Jensen vs. Tony D’Angelo on WWE NXT
This writer can’t understand the hype around Brooks Jensen, if there’s any to begin with. Shawn Spears seems like a more believable threat to Tony’s North American title run. The Don has yet to come across a legitimate threat to his championship reign. Oba Femi gave him a run for his money but he’s nowhere to be found.
Hit – ZARIA advances to Iron Survivor Challenge
Wren Sinclair had a good showing but ZARIA’s tenacity proved to be too much. The Australian superstar has some mean clothesline and a devastating F6 finisher. This year’s Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge lineup is stacked with the inclusion of Sol Ruca, Stephanie Vaquer and ZARIA.
Miss – Predictable ending to WWE NXT main event
This writer thinks Andre Chase versus Ridge Holland II surpassed their Halloween Havoc match. Holland looked like a monster with his lone attempt at taking out the entire Chase U. That said, Ridge putting a full stop to Chase U was inevitable from the moment he betrayed the faction. The entire build-up kind of give away the outcome despite the hype last night’s match-up got from WWE production team.
Honorable Mentions
- The mixed-tag team match featuring the undercard was a fun watch. This writer doesn’t want WWE NXT to turn Brinley Reece into the next Thea Hail with her over-the-top enthusiasm. Dion Lennox looked great stepping up to the veteran Ashante, who may have ruined his moment with Karmen due to Miss Nikkita’s little distraction.
- Fatal Influence had a brief segment. Props to Jazmyn for adjusting to the crowd reaction and her peers for taking over. That is called awareness. The brawl featuring NXT mid-card was fun. Everyone wants a shot at the North American Championship but they’ll have to wait because it’s Tatum’s turn next week.
