Welcome to the latest edition of our weekly WWE RAW hits and misses series.
Last night’s episode of RAW emanated from Grand Rapids, MI. WWE also taped several matches and segments for the November 18 episode of RAW from the same arena.
Before we get to the spoilers for next week, here’s what went down on the November 11 episode of Monday Night RAW.
Hit – Damian Priest & Gunther segment
Priest seems to have got his mojo back on the road to his rematch against Gunther at Survivor Series. Maybe it was the Bad Bunny shirt, who knows? Gunther appears to have been shook by the loss he took at the hands of Cody Rhodes. This is some interesting character development because Gunther is usually such a commanding presence. Ludwig Kaiser’s involvement was the cherry on top. He’ll make for a brilliant foil to a babyface Gunther down the line.
Miss – Pure Fusion Collective’s booking on WWE RAW
Dakota Kai’s return foreshadowed Damage CTRL’s win over PFC, which sounds like some jobber football league. Oh wait, Deville’s group took another L on WWE RAW. PFC’s loss doesn’t bother me though. It’s their booking. Their presentation makes them seem like some kind of an unstoppable force (I don’t want to be generous with The Shield comparisons) but the end result always ruins their entire gimmick.
Hit – The Final Testament takes out Wyatt Sicks
I’m sorry, Miz. I wasn’t familiar with your acting chops. The A-lister got the Wyatts to come out of their hiding only to take Rowan out with a chair shot to the back. It’s the first time I’m actually excited for something involving Kross and his faction. Howdy’s laugh is creepy. I don’t think Kross realizes he’s playing with fire.
Miss – Time constraints for WWE RAW’s main event
The women’s tag team title main event should’ve got, at least, 10 to 12 minutes. The six-woman tag team opener clocked at around 10 minutes. That said, the main event planted the seeds for Women’s WarGames match, I suppose. Nia and Tiffany’s arrival was a nice surprise. Judging by the ending, it seems this year’s Women’s WarGames match will see Nia, Tiffany, Liv, Raquel, and Candice take on Bianca, Jade, IYO, Naomi, and spoiler.
Honorable Mentions
- The Bloodline WarGames angle continued on WWE RAW this week with both groups trying to get their fifth members. I liked how WWE subtly teased Bron Breakker as a potential fifth member for Team OG Bloodline. We all know Breakker won’t be the fifth man because he’s got his own feud going with Sheamus. Seth Rollins had some interesting conversation with Sami Zayn and Solo Sikoa. Love the resentment Rollins have for Reigns and vice versa. Some wounds never heal.
- Kofi Kingston versus Pete Dunne saw some excellent storyline progression. Woods telling Kofi he better focus on his objective after taking out Dunne is the most convincing he’s been since bringing together The New Day all those years ago. The break-up is going to hurt many fans but that seems to be the only logical direction especially without Big E to play the peacemaker. Speaking of peacemaker, tensions just flared between Dom and Finn.
