Welcome to the latest edition of our weekly WWE NXT hits and misses series.
WWE presented the go-home episode of NXT for Halloween Havoc from the Performance Center last night. Trick Williams, Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, Oba Femi, Nikkita Lyons, and more worked the show.
Here’s what went down on the October 22 episode of NXT.
Hit – Main roster stars shine on WWE NXT
The tag team match between Damage CTRL and Meta Four was solid. NXT always makes up for the lack of TV time when it comes to women’s wrestling on RAW and SmackDown. Having Chelsea Green and Piper Niven show up to decimate all four ladies was the right call. It adds much-needed hype to the women’s tag team title program.
Miss – Wendy Choo kidnaps Tatum Paxley
Tatum never disappoints between the ropes. She had a good match against Jaida Parker. The Wendy Choo angle means the feud between the pair is far from over. But, to be honest, I’m finding Wendy’s supernatural gimmick rather dull on WWE NXT.
Hit – Oba Femi decimates The Family
Oba singlehandedly took out Stacks and Luca Crusifino while Tony D watched in horror. The beatdown angle put some momentum in Oba’s career ahead of his rematch for the WWE NXT Championship. Crusifino took a nasty bump on the ladder. I hope he didn’t get a concussion. I’m looking forward to the Tables, Ladders and Scares match this Sunday.
Miss – OTM vs. Hank & Tank
This was a standard tag team match where all competitors were all over the place. Hank and Tank had momentum when they were feuding with The Good Brothers. Now they seem to be, once again, “back in line”. At least, they had some use for Cole Custer after the match on WWE NXT.
Hit – Ambulance match set for NXT Halloween Havoc
Andre Chase wants Ridge Holland to face him in an Ambulance Match this Sunday. This stipulation feels right given the hell Holland has put Chase U through over the past month. Let’s see how this match goes.
Hit – Zaria arrives on WWE NXT
They should’ve kept Zaria’s in-person WWE NXT debut for Halloween Havoc. The vignettes leading up to this week’s show pretty much spoiled her appearance. Shawn Michaels should’ve booked her to appear following Giulia-Stephanie vs. Roxanne-Cora match at Halloween Havoc. That said, the former Delta looked badass as she appeared on stage. NXT may have the best women’s division on the planet right now.
