WWE RAW Review: Hits And Misses For October 14

Welcome to the latest edition of our weekly WWE RAW hits and misses series.

The October 14 episode of RAW was taped last week in St. Louis, MO. Rhea Ripley, Damian Priest, Jey Uso, Bron Breakker, The New Day, and Judgment Day appeared during the show.

Here’s what went down on the October 14 episode of Monday Night RAW.

Hit – Rhea Ripley meets Tiffany Stratton

Rhea Ripley kicked off WWE RAW. Mami talked about her feud with Liv Morgan over the world title. She called out Raquel Rodriguez. Tiffany Stratton showed up with a message from Nia Jax. Liv and Raquel jumped Rhea and Tiffany setting up their tag team main event.

Tiffany would’ve gotten a huge pop if RAW wasn’t taped. She is slowly morphing into a babyface with the reaction she’s getting as of late. The attack from Liv and Raquel was bound to happen.

Miss – Women’s tag team title match on WWE RAW

Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill defended their tag team titles against IYO Sky and Kairi Sane. NXT’s Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson were in the crowd. The pair attacked IYO Sky from ringside to set up a successful title defense for the champions.

Both teams showed great chemistry in the allotted TV time. My only gripe with this match was its duration. It should’ve gone longer than 10 minutes. Meta Four’s interference protected IYO SKY and Kairi Sane despite the loss.

Hit – War Raiders are back

War Raiders reunited as Erik and Ivar both returned from injury. The pair made quick work of Alpha Academy to advance into the next round of the tag team title tournament.

Seeing War Raiders back on WWE TV makes me happy. Their return gives a much-needed boost to the men’s tag division. Let’s see if they manage to earn a shot at the world tag team titles.

Miss – The Miz vs. R-Truth

R-Truth pinned Miz in a matter of seconds. Truth walked past The Final Testament only for AOP to send him back into the ring. Miz planted his former tag team partner with a Skull Crushing Finale to cap off the angle.

It seems Miz’s involvement is to simply get Final Testament over with the fans because they aren’t getting over themselves. The turn against Truth still feels rushed to me. Let’s see if we get more out of this feud next week on WWE RAW.

Hit – Women’s tag team main event on WWE RAW

Rhea Ripley and Tiffany Stratton took on Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. Tiffany and Rhea argued throughout the match. Nia Jax showed up during the closing moments to cause a DQ ending. Nia cleaned house and told Tiffany to cash-in on Liv, but Dominik Mysterio made the save.

The action was solid with Tiffany showcasing her athletic prowess. Rhea and Tiffany can make a great team. Nia made up for the beating she took last week on SmackDown by singlehandedly clearing the ring.

Honorable Mentions

  • WWE teased Jey Uso’s involvement in The Bloodline vs. Bloodline storyline by having Jimmy Uso appear on RAW. Jey told Jimmy to get out of his face. Does this mean Jey is dropping his Intercontinental Championship to Bron Breakker next week on WWE RAW?
  • Speaking of Breakker, last night’s video package featuring the former Intercontinental Champion was great. Breakker cut a mean promo on Jey, calling him out for using his family to get to where he’s at today.
