Hologram vs. Beast Mortos – 2 Out of 3 Falls match at AEW WrestleDream

Backdrop: After witnessing Beast Mortos’ attack Hologram in the aftermath of his epic match against Komander on Dynamite, Tony Khan announced the duo would collide in a 2 Out of 3 Falls match at WrestleDream.

Prediction: Aramis has been on a winning streak ever since making his AEW debut as the masked superstar Hologram on 7/20 AEW Collision. The streak needs to stay intact in the aftermath of the 2 out of 3 Falls match against Beast Mortos.

“The Learning Tree” Chris Jericho sets his sights on the ROH World Title! | 10/2/24, AEW Dynamite

Mark Briscoe (c) vs. Chris Jericho (with Big Bill and Bryan Keith) – ROH World Championship

Backdrop: Mark Briscoe and Chris Jericho collided in tag team matches before The Learning Tree called out Briscoe on 10/2 Dynamite. During the segment, Jericho referenced Mark’s late brother Jay causing the ROH World Champion to flatten Y2J with a punch. Briscoe said he would defend his title against Jericho at AEW WrestleDream.

Prediction: Jericho is all too familiar with the ROH World Championship, having previously had an 80-day run with the title. Mark is close to reaching 200 days in his first run as the ROH World Champion. The former tag team specialist has, so far, done a solid job as champion. Jericho shouldn’t have another title run but if that’s what put more eyes on the product then so be it.

Darby Allin vs. Brody King at AEW WrestleDream

Backdrop: After losing his world title opportunity to Jon Moxley at Dynamite Grand Slam, Darby Allin issued an open challenge for AEW WrestleDream. The open challenge was accepted by Brody King on 10/8 Dynamite. Brody said he wanted Darby’s spot, but Darby said he’d have to kill him for that. Both men attacked each other before Darby busted open Brody with a rock.

Prediction: The loss at the hands of Moxley seems to have put Darby on a much more hostile path. Allin claims he’s the face of AEW and anyone having problems with it can prove him wrong inside the ring. Brody and Darby go back a long way. Both men have had some wars in the past. Brody’s time will come. Darby’s time is now.

Bang Bang Gang’s Jay White is BACK and he’s taking aim at Hangman Page! | 10/8/24 AEW Dynamite

Adam Page vs. Jay White at AEW WrestleDream

Backdrop: Jay White was injured during his match against Adam Page in the Owen Hart Tournament. White watched from the sidelines as The Hangman defeated Swerve Strickland to end their blood feud at AEW All Out 2024. The Switchblade returned from injury two weeks ago on Dynamite to save Juice Robinson from Page’s assault, setting up their singles match for WrestleDream in the process.

Prediction: Hangman has been absolutely relentless since returning to AEW television back in January. The former AEW World Champion has racked up a series of wins, but fate might not be so kind this Saturday. Jay White needs this win more than the Hangman to get back his momentum and establish himself as a credible babyface.

Swerve Strickland returns to AEW

Swerve Strickland was last seen on AEW television at All Out when he lost to Adam Page in a brutal steel cage match. Prince Nana announced that Swerve will return to AEW at WrestleDream. AEW has heavily teased an angle between Swerve and The Hurt Syndicate. We may see a certain former WWE star introduce himself to Swerve this Saturday. Who knows?

Katsuyori Shibata desafia Jack Perry que responde violentamente - AEW Dynamite 02/10/2024

Jack Perry (c) vs. Katsuyori Shibata – AEW TNT Championship

Backdrop: Shibata confronted Perry with a challenge for the AEW TNT Championship on 10/2 Dynamite. The Scapegoat blindsided The Wrestler with a cheap attack before agreeing to put his title on the line at AEW WrestleDream. Shibata is a former ROH Pure Champion under AEW.

Prediction: Love him or hate him, you can’t deny Jack Perry’s willingness to sacrifice for this business. He’s been through real glass, was lit on fire by Darby Allin, and took an unprotected chair shot to the head by Mark Briscoe. Perry deserves to go over Shibata this Saturday.

Ospreay (International Champion) vs Ricochet: A HISTORIC rematch! | 10/2/24, AEW Dynamite
Video Credit: YouTube

Will Ospreay (c) vs. Ricochet vs. Konosuke Takeshita – AEW International Championship

Backdrop: AEW fans hit Takeshita with boos for interfering in the International Championship match between Ospreay and Ricochet at the Dynamite five-year anniversary show. Takeshita would attack Ospreay after Callis admitted he was the mastermind behind the international star’s interference. Ricochet made the save for his longtime rival Ospreay before the three locked eyes.

Prediction: Ospreay and Ricochet had a modern-day classic which was ruined by the awful interference angle. Takeshita is only part of the AEW WrestleDream three-way because someone has to eat the pin. Assuming AEW has plans for a rematch between Ospreay and Ricochet, the Aerial Assassin retains his title this Saturday.

Young Bucks vs Private Party | AEW Timelines

The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson) (c) vs. Private Party (Zay and Quen) – AEW World Tag Team Championship

Backdrop: The Private Party suffered a major setback at the hands of Jon Moxley and his group previously on AEW Dynamite. However, Zay and Quen managed to become the number one contenders to the tag team titles at WrestleDream on the October 5 episode of Collision.

Prediction: Despite being part of the AEW roster since day one, Private Party has never won tag team titles in the promotion. It’s time the EVPs put over Zay and Quen in their AEW World Tag Team Championship match.

AEW Women’s World Champ #MariahMay knocked out #WillowNightingale during #AEWDynamite Title Tuesday!

Mariah May (c) vs. Willow Nightingale – AEW Women’s World Championship

Backdrop: Willow Nightingale kicked off her feud with Mariah May on the road to AEW WrestleDream. Willow won a fatal four-way number one contender’s match on Dynamite Title Tuesday. After the match, she was attacked by the champion with the title belt only to retaliate with a pounce backstage later.

Prediction: Willow is Mariah’s first legitimate babyface opponent since Toni Storm. The AEW Women’s World Champion has had underwhelming opponents so far mainly due to the lack credible babyfaces on the roster. Mariah retains this Saturday but not before exhausting herself against the former TBS Champion.

Jon Moxley & BCC send a message to Bryan Danielson before WrestleDream | 10/2/24, AEW Dynamite
Video Credit: YouTube

Bryan Danielson (c) vs. Jon Moxley – AEW World Championship

Backdrop: Bryan Danielson suffered a nasty betrayal from Jon Moxley and his group at AEW All Out 2024. Mox became the number one contender to the AEW World Champion by beating Darby Allin at Dynamite Grand Slam. Amidst all this, Wheeler Yuta found himself conflicted choosing between Danielson and doing his job as the AEW World Trios Champion.

Prediction: Wheeler Yuta could very well turn and cost Danielson the world title at AEW WrestleDream. A different outcome could see the American Dragon retain his title to set up a feud with a potentially soon-to-be debuting Shane McMahon, who has been the source of plenty of speculation in recent months.

WrestleZone will have full coverage of AEW WrestleDream as it airs.
