5 Best Challengers For Bron Breakker’s WWE Intercontinental Title

Bron Breakker’s WWE Intercontinental Championship run continues.

Breakker successfully defended his title against Sami Zayn on the August 12 episode of RAW. The second-generation Steiner bested Zayn in a grueling 2 out of 3 falls match. Both men showed each other respect after the show went off the air.

With Breakker versus Zayn seemingly over, it’s only a matter of time before a new challenger steps up to the young champion. Let’s take a look at five potential challengers for Bron Breakker’s Intercontinental Title.

Bronson Reed

Bronson Reed was involved in an Intercontinental Title program with Sami Zayn before he decided to break bodies in half with his vicious Tsunami. The former JONAH dished brutal punishment on Seth Rollins before delivering the same fate to R-Truth. Even RAW GM Adam Pearce has struggled to contain this monster of a man.

Reed isn’t likely to stop till he gets his hand on gold. The big man could make for a solid opponent to Bron Breakker’s Intercontinental Title. Both men talked about potentially facing each other on Xavier Woods’ UpUpDownDown YouTube channel. This match could be WWE’s version of “unstoppable force meets immovable object.”

Ilja Dragunov & Bron Breakker are no strangers to each other

Ilja Dragunov, alongside JD McDonagh, was Bron Breakker’s major feud in 2022. The trio gave fans one of the best NXT matches of 2022 at Halloween Havoc. Fate once again pitted Breakker and Dragunov against each other after The Mad Dragon got drafted to RAW from NXT back in April 2024.

Both men have since squared off on multiple occasions with Bron Breakker emerging as the last man standing. The storyline also happens to intertwine with Breakker versus Zayn, who has become a mentor of sorts to Dragunov on RAW. It remains to be seen if Dragunov will step up to finish the job Zayn couldn’t.

Ludwig Kaiser

Ludwig Kaiser has finally stepped out of Gunther’s shadow to be his own man. The former Marcel Barthel was responsible for sending Giovanni Vinci to Friday Night SmackDown. He would have a series of hard-hitting matches with Sheamus before Pete Dunne turned his back on Fella.

Kaiser has all the tools to be a great singles champion. He and Vinci carried NXT UK’s tag team division at the height of Imperium’s dominance. It’s high time WWE puts Kaiser in a singles title feud on the red brand.

Dominik Mysterio

Whether you like him or hate him, you just cannot deny Dominik Mysterio’s commitment to this industry. This man’s work ethic is insane. He was second to Cody Rhodes in terms of matches wrestled in 2023. Dom’s character work post-heel turn has been nothing short of brilliant. Everybody is super proud of him, including his “deadbeat dad” Rey Mysterio.

Dominik is currently involved in one of the wildest storylines on WWE television, but I can see him going after a singles title in the future. With Bron Breakker bound to turn face at some point, the young champion could benefit from feuding with a heat magnet in Dominik. WWE could just reference Dom’s elimination of Breakker from the 2024 Royal Rumble to kickoff this feud.

John Cena vs. Bron Breakker is a dream match

The WWE Universe is looking forward to how John Cena’s retirement tour plays out. Cena is likely to kickoff his farewell tour in January 2025. The former 16-time World Champion says there’s no check big enough to bring him back after he retires in December next year. A lot of superstars have publicly expressed their interest in becoming part of Cena’s farewell tour in some capacity.

Bron Breakker dared Cena to take the WWE Intercontinental Champion off of him. The workman’s title has alluded Cena thus far and Breakker may have just planted the seeds for a potential feud. Breakker versus Cena could be a great feud should WWE decide to pit the two superstars against each other.
