WWE NXT Great American Bash Preview (7/30/24)

It’s almost time for WWE NXT Great American Bash!

Tonight’s special episode of NXT airs on Syfy due to USA Network’s coverage of the 2024 Summer Olympics. WWE has already advertised a couple of matches and segments for Week 1 of NXT Great American Bash.

So, without further ado, let’s dive right into it.

Six-woman tag team match at NXT Great American Bash

Lola Vice emerged victorious against Jacy Jayne on 7/16 WWE NXT. However, Miss Vice found herself against Jacy’s partners in Jazmyn Nyx and Fallon Henley. The odds were turned when Sol Ruca and Karmen Petrovic arrived to make the save.

Jacy and Jazmyn expressed their frustration at not getting a women’s tag team title shot in a video promo on social media. The six women went back and forth on X before NXT General Manager Ava pitted them against each other in six-woman tag team action at GAB.

Tony D’Angelo (c) vs. Tavion Heights – NXT Heritage Cup

It’s been quite a rough few weeks for No Quarter Catch Crew. First, Wren Sinclair saw the group stash Damon Kemp’s body in a car. Then, Charlie Dempsey was denied a piece of advice by Tony D’Angelo. Dempsey would reluctantly help Wren win her match against and join NQCC in the process.

The group was informed later that night one of their members had earned the opportunity to face Tony D for the Heritage Cup at NXT Great American Bash.

Tonight, will it be Tavion Heights’ chance to bring back the championship to No Quarter Catch Crew? Will he live up to the challenge?

Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre (c) vs. Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn claimed the women’s tag team titles at WWE Clash at the Castle. The pair have now got a huge target on their back as teams from RAW, SmackDown and NXT want a shot at the championships.

Before their match against Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill this Friday on SmackDown, The Unholy Union comes to NXT to put their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on the line against Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson.

Ethan Page & Oro Mensah make it official at NXT Great American Bash

Ethan Page’s life has been a living hell since he attacked Noam Dar and Oro Mensah. All Ego won the NXT Championship at Heatwave. However, the champion was attacked and pinned by Mensah following a successful title defense on 7/16 WWE NXT.

An increasingly frustrated Page would argue against the pin’s merits in the absence of a referee only for Mensah to pin him with a referee counting down to three this time. Page said he’d put his title on the line at NXT Great American Bash Week 2. Tonight, the two men make it official.

Roxanne Perez (c) vs. Thea Hail – NXT Women’s Championship

Roxanne Perez successfully retained her title against Lola Vice at NXT Heatwave. The Prodigy sounded off during a promo on 7/16 NXT, which was interrupted by Thea Hail. Roxanne delivered a cheap shot only for Thea to counter with a submission of her own. Tonight, both women take their differences to the ring in a match for the NXT Women’s Championship.

Joe Hendry’s live concert

Say his name and he appears!

Joe Hendry will bring his magic to NXT Great American Bash. The TNA superstar continues to be a major attraction in the ongoing crossover with WWE NXT. Hendry first showed up in an NXT ring a couple of weeks ago during a multi-man match. He would show up as Trick Williams’ surprise tag team partner against Ethan Page and Shawn Spears on 7/9 NXT.

NXT Great American Bash will mark Hendry’s first major show appearance since failing to claim the TNW World Championship at Slammiversary. For those unaware, Nic Nemeth won the title. I believe Hendry will be next in line to challenge the former Dolph Ziggler for the brand’s top title. It remains to be seen what Hendry has in store for the NXT Universe tonight.

WrestleZone will have full coverage of NXT Great American Bash as it airs.
