It’s AEW Dynamite night. This week’s edition of Dynamite comes to you live from the Control Center in Winnipeg. Advertised stars include AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland, Mariah May, TNT Champion Adam Copeland. Former champion Kenny Omega is set to make his return to Dynamite as well.
AEW has already announced a couple of matches and segments in the lead-up to May 1, 2024, episode of Dynamite. The show will feature the fallout from EVP Bucks’ attack on Tony Khan. Orange Cassidy segment
It’s been a tough few weeks for Orange Cassidy. The former International Champion was betrayed by Trent Barretta on a previous Dynamite. Trent would again ambush Cassidy weeks later on Dynamite.
The whole angle led to a brutal parking lot fight with Chuck Taylor at AEW Rampage, where Trent injured his former best friend’s ankle with a wrench. What will OC have to say in the aftermath of Trent’s barbaric actions? We’ll find out tonight on Dynamite.
Claudio Castagnoli vs. Brian Cage
Claudio Castagnoli and Swerve Strickland had a fantastic match at AEW Collision this past Saturday. Both men looked incredible in their back-and-forth exchange. Castagnoli’s strength complemented Strickland’s athleticism.
The Swiss Superman now looks to prove himself against Mogul Embassy’s muscle in Brian Cage. Who will come out the winner in this battle of epic proportions? Tune in tonight for our live coverage of AEW Dynamite.
Adam Copeland’s TNT Title defense continues on AEW Dynamite
Adam Copeland has made it his mission to make TNT title the most prestigious championship in all of AEW. The Rated R Superstar has already had several great title defenses against the likes of Matt Cardona and Penta. His next challenge will be a member of The House of Black.
The House have continued to be a thorn in Copeland’s side. Their mind games have caused problems for the TNT Champion. Who will step up from the dark faction to take on Copeland for his TNT Championship on AEW Dynamite tonight?
Samoa Joe vs. Isiah Cassidy
Samoa Joe may have lost the AEW World Championship at Dynasty, but he is coming back to reclaim what he believe is rightfully his – AEW’s mountain top. The self-proclaimed King of Television was last seen in action on Dynamite nearly a month ago.
Joe will take on Private Party’s Isiah Cassidy in what looks like an easy challenge for the Samoan Submission Machine. What happens when Joe takes on Cassidy in their singles match? Find out tonight.
Chris Jericho (c) vs. Katsuyori Shibata for the FTW Championship
Chris Jericho proved age is just a number when he defeated HOOK for the FTW Championship at AEW Dynasty. The 53-year-old Jericho also got himself a new pupil in Big Bill, who made it clear he wants to sit under the “learning tree”.
Jericho’s first defense of the TNT Championship will see him take on a formidable opponent in Katsuyori Shibata. The Wrestler hasn’t held a title in quite a while. Can he defeat the Lionheart for the title?
Swerve Strickland’s AEW Double or Nothing opponent to be revealed
Swerve Strickland capped off AEW Dynasty with a world title win over Samoa Joe. Strickland would defeat Kyle Fletcher of The Don Callis Family in a really good world title eliminator on a recent episode of AEW Dynamite.
His opponent at Double or Nothing is set to be revealed tonight. There are a couple of superstars who could challenge Strickland for the title. Who will it be? We’ll find out tonight on AEW Dynamite.
Kenny Omega returns on AEW Dynamite
Kenny Omega hasn’t appeared on AEW TV in months. The Cleaner last competed at Collison #26 back in December. Omega’s return coincides with the aftermath of the Bucks’ assault on boss Tony Khan. Plus, he may have a thing or two to say about Matthew and Nicholas’ alliance with Kazuchika Okada.
There’s a running theory on social media that Omega could be the on-screen authority figure Tony Khan has teased in the lead-up to Dynamite this week. Speaking of authority figure, I have a few guesses of my own as well, but that’s for a separate feature. How do you see Kenny Omega’s return to Dynamite playing out?
