Best NWA Powerrr Matches

NWA Powerrr debuted on YouTube in October 2019. The show arrived on the wrestling map two years into Billy Corgan’s purchase of the fabled wrestling promotion. Corgan, himself a pro wrestling enthusiast, successfully revived NWA’s old-school-styled programming with Powerrr.

The earliest seasons of NWA Powerrr showed Corgan and his wrestlers had managed to revitalize the once-dead promotion. Stars like Eli Drake (better known as LA Knight) and Nick Aldis put eyes on the product through their in-ring acumen and mic skills.

The show briefly went on hiatus due to the pandemic, but resumed tapings in March 2021. Each season of the show focuses on storylines leading into pay-per-view events. That being said, Let’s take a look at some of the best NWA Powerrr matches:

Eli Drake & James Storm vs. The Bouncers (NWA World Tag Team Title Match – March 3, 2020)

Eli Drake and James Strom clicked as a tag team. They won the NWA World Tag Team Championship at NWA Hard Times PPV event. They put their titles on the line against The Bouncers (Brian Milonas and The Beer City Bruiser) at NWA Powerrr #20.

This tag team main event stood out due to Eddie Kingston’s brilliant work as Drake and Storm’s manager. Kingston continued to mock his counterpart, The Pope, with his trash talk. Brian Milonas also looked impressive as the muscle of the opposition.

Nick Aldis vs. Tim Storm (NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship Match – October 8, 2019)

Nick Aldis and Tim Storm collided in the main event of NWA Powerrr #1. These two were a fantastic choice by Billy Corgan to close out Powerrr’s debut episode with a bang. Both men brought the old-school feel to studio wrestling – and in a good way.

Much emphasis was put on in-ring storytelling. Storm put on a great fight despite being 54 at the time. The pre-match promo helped the action inside the ring in a great way. In the end, Aldis emerged as the winner as still the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.
