Kofi Kingston’s 5 Best Matches in WWE

Kofi Kingston‘s WWE run has seen him put on incredible matches. The former WWE Champion has gone toe-to-toe with the likes of Dolph Ziggler, The Usos, and Daniel Bryan (better known as Bryan Danielson), among others.

Kingston’s amazing high-fly abilities, coupled with his immaculate storytelling, have rightfully placed him among some of the most reliable performers on the WWE roster today. What’s great about his run is that he’s been doing this for the past 15 years.

With that being said, here are Kofi Kingston’s five best matches in WWE.

Kofi Kingston vs. Cesaro (WWE Main Event – May 1, 2013)

This match often gets overlooked, probably because it never got its rightful placement on RAW, SmackDown or even pay-per-view. Instead, the bout between Kofi Kingston and Cesar was taped for WWE Main Event even though it had the United States Championship on the line.

Despite the poor hype surrounding the match, Kingston and Cesaro put on a technical masterclass for the crowd in attendance. This match was a great display of strength and agility and really got the fans invested.

Plus, it had all the right emotions from Kofi Kingston, who addressed his wife and newborn son in an emotional post-match promo after defending his title against the Swiss Superman.

Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler (WWE RAW – September 24, 2012)

Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler have always had amazing chemistry. The pair battled countless times over the Intercontinental Championship in 2010, but it was their match two years later that overshadowed their previous encounters.

Kingston and Ziggler collided on the September 24, 2012, episode of RAW. This bout was not short of violent action as the paid brought the fight to each other. The match featured plenty of near falls that had the crowd on their feet.

In the end, the Show-Off rattled Kingston’s brain by sending him face-first through the mat for the win.

Every match featuring The New Day and The Usos is bound to contain a tremendous dose of action and excitement. Add Lucha Dragons (Kalisto and Sin Cara) to the mix, and there’s no stopping them from producing match of the year contender.

The three teams collided in a triple threat tag team ladder match for the WWE Tag Team Championship at TLC 2015. The match had high-flying action, solid in-ring psychology and adequate drama.

It also featured Kalisto’s high-risk Salida Del Sol on Jey Uso which sent the two men crashing through the wedged ladders. The ending saw Kofi Kingston unhook the belts for the win.

Money in the Bank Ladder Match (WrestleMania XXV)

By mid-2009, Kofi Kingston had solidified himself as an upper midcarder with several great performances under his belt. He then decided to take things up a notch in the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania XXV.

So great was Kingston’s performance that it overshadowed Shelton Benjamin’s dive from the top of the ladder. This was a feat in itself, considering that the Gold Standard had pretty much stole Money in the Bank matches with his performance up until that point.

Kofi Kingston vs. Daniel Bryan (WrestleMania 35)

Kofi Kingston’s greatest performance arguably came against Daniel Bryan in their singles match at WrestleMania 35. The American Dragon had made his opponent’s life miserable by denying him multiple opportunities at the WWE Championship.

Never been the one to back down or back out, Kofi Kingston took on Danielson in possibly the most lively match of the night – putting an end to Dragon’s championship reign with a Trouble in Paradise to capture his first WWE Championship.

History was made that night.
