#1.) “I did it for The Rock“
Around 1999, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin was written out of TV with an injury after being hit by a mystery attacker in a car. While it was an ongoing investigation, the truth would only come out the following year. Mick Foley was the one who was leading the investigation and at this point, The Rock had also turned into a full-fledged top star, comfortably taking Austin’s spot.
When Austin returned, the story was opened up again and it was revealed that the mid-card babyface and fun-loving Rikishi was the one who did it, even saying the iconic line “I did it for The Rock”. It had to do with Samoan Brotherhood apparently and it was meant to push Rikishi as a main eventer.
Unfortunately for him, he simply wasn’t on that level and was handily beaten by Austin before moving down to the midcard again.
