
#5.) Avoid chair shots to the head
Obviously, the biggest prop for storytelling in the Cody Rhodes-Shawn Spears match is going to be the steel chair. It was not too long ago when Spears came out and smacked Rhodes square in the head with a steel chair, leading him to get multiple stitches. While it is a shocking visual, it seems to be an unnecessary one.
If anything, WWE has proven over the years why banning chair shots to the head was a good decision. We’re not suggesting that Cody Rhodes nor AEW doesn’t already know all of this – but it seems like a step too far in 2019. They are definitely capable of having a good match without a steel chair shot to the head.
