Samoa Joe is the current challenger for the WWE Championship despite being a RAW superstar. Though it doesn’t make much sense for RAW superstars to challenge for a SmackDown title (and vice versa), it seems as though the brand split doesn’t hold up anymore. Last year, Samoa Joe challenged for the WWE title in the summer and fell short on multiple occasions, including one moment where he technically did win the title (only to lose the match via a controversial mistake).
Samoa Joe has always been main event talent and has always been a World title level competitor. He has everything it takes to be at the very top of the mountain in WWE.
