Johnny Gargano competed in his 7th NXT Takeover main event and his 16th overall NXT Takeover show. He is without a doubt “Mr. Takeover” as well as the greatest performer in NXT Takeover history. There has been no superstar with more Takeover appearances than Gargano and there’s been no superstar with more main events than him.
He truly is the heart and soul of NXT and though it came as a shock that he lost his NXT Title so early into his reign, he didn’t lose it without putting on the best effort possible. The thing with Gargano is that at Takeover shows, he reaches a whole other level as a performer. This was none more so exemplified when he and Adam Cole tore the house down in the 25th edition of NXT Takeover.
