On the 6th May edition of Monday Night RAW, Vince McMahon opened the show and announced a new rule known as the “Wildcard” Rule, initially explaining that three superstars will be allowed weekly to appear on the opposing brand’s show. After a tense staredown with Lars Sullivan, Vince McMahon made it four superstars.

Naturally, there was instant criticism over the idea.
