The assumption was that if The Miz and Shane McMahon were to lose the SmackDown Tag Team Championship quickly, then The Miz would turn on Shane McMahon and set up a WrestleMania match. However, there was not even a slight hint of dissension showed between the two like WWE usually does pre-break-up.

If anything, the story of the match was more that The Usos were simply a more experienced tag team and capitalized to win the titles for the sixth time.
