The heart and soul of NXT, it would be injustice not to include Sami Zayn in the list. Zayn had undergone a completely different evolution as a character in NXT, going away from his roots in the independent scene. Being one of the early flagbearers of NXT, Zayn found himself becoming one of the biggest underdog babyfaces in the company – the guy who would steal the show but just fall short.
His journey to the NXT Championship and beyond was incredible to watch, and he ended his NXT run with one of the best Takeover matches ever against a debuting Shinsuke Nakamura.
