During AJ Styles’ post-TNA period, he worked with ROH for quite a few dates. One of these dates saw him go head-t0-head with Roderick Strong, and they would have a fantastic bout together. Unfortunately, he tucked in his head before taking the Styles Clash, something that can be extremely fatal. Strong got spiked on his head, but thankfully, the injury wasn’t too serious.
He did go to the sidelines due to this for a period of time, but he revealed that this incident changed his perspective on wrestling. Rather than just a reckless entertaining style, he began to focus more on the psychological aspect of a match. This saw him evolve as a performer, something that may not have happened had he signed with WWE two years prior.
